Corporate Diwali Gifting 2026: The Order Timeline for HR Teams (PO by 20 October)

Corporate Diwali gifting rarely goes wrong because of the gift. It goes wrong because of the calendar. Budgets get approved late, vendor onboarding takes a week longer than anyone expected, the PO sits in someone's inbox over the Dussehra long weekend, and suddenly the gifts are arriving after Diwali.

This year the calendar is tighter than it looks. Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026, Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November, and Dussehra on Tuesday, 20 October sits right in the middle of the ordering window. Here is a week-by-week corporate Diwali gifting timeline that works backwards from the festival, so your team's gifts arrive on time.

The corporate Diwali gifting timeline for 2026

When What to get done
Now to Friday, 2 October Lock the budget per head, the headcount (including remote staff and interns) and the delivery plan: one office, several offices, or individual homes.
5 to 9 October Shortlist gifts, get internal approvals and complete vendor registration with finance.
12 to 16 October Raise the PO and place the order. Friday, 16 October is the safe deadline.
Tuesday, 20 October The last realistic ordering date for delivery before Diwali. It is also Dussehra, a holiday for many offices, so do not leave it this late.
21 October to 4 November Processing, dispatch and delivery. Collect home addresses if gifts are going to remote staff.
2 to 6 November Hand out gifts or run the team activity before people leave for the Diwali break.

Why 20 October is the real deadline

Magic Hour kits take 7 to 8 business days to arrive, and couriers slow down during the festive season. Count backwards from Dhanteras on 6 November, when many offices start their Diwali break, and 20 October is the last date that leaves enough room.

But 20 October is Dussehra, and Monday 19 October is Durga Ashtami, which many offices also observe. In practice, the last full working day before the deadline is Friday, 16 October. Put that date in your calendar, not the 20th.

What slows corporate gifting down (and how to avoid it)

  • Vendor registration. Finance often needs the vendor's GST certificate, PAN and bank details before a PO can be raised. Start this in the first week of October.
  • Headcount changes. Add a 5 percent buffer for new joiners and last-minute additions.
  • Home addresses for remote staff. Collecting addresses from 200 people takes longer than you think. Send the form as soon as the order is confirmed.
  • Approvals over the long weekend. With Ashtami, Navami and Dussehra falling on 19 and 20 October, sign-offs slow down. Get them done by the 16th.

Choosing the gift: move beyond the dry-fruit box

Dry fruits and mithai boxes are safe, but nobody remembers them by January. Companies increasingly want a gift that brings the team together. A DIY activity kit does both: it is a Diwali gift and a team experience in one.

Our Magic Hour kits are designed for corporate teams:

  • ₹499 plus GST per kit, with a minimum of five kits.
  • Everything for one person in the box, plus a messy mat for easy cleanup.
  • Festive activities including Diya Decoration and Candle Painting, and 45 to 60 minutes of genuinely fun time.
  • A GST invoice sent within 24 to 48 hours of your order.
  • Free delivery on every order, and individual home deliveries for orders above 50 kits.

Corporate Diwali gifts for clients

Client gifts usually carry a higher budget and need to feel premium. A retail DIY kit such as the DIY Perfume Kit (₹3,999), the Resin Pendant Kit (₹1,999) or the Shell Candle and Decoupage combo makes a memorable gift for a client's home. Our corporate gifting guide has more options by budget.

Run it as a Diwali team activity, not just a gift

The best Diwali gifts are the ones people open together. Book a conference room for an hour in the week of 2 November, hand out the kits, and let the team paint diyas or candles side by side. For remote teams, schedule a video call and let everyone make their kit at home at the same time. For more ideas, read our guide to team building activities for Diwali.
